New insights on protecting yourself from severe covid-19

By February 9, 2021Notes from Alexis

When I’m taking a case, often people will tell me about a frightening or traumatic situation from their history. The important part for me, as a homeopath, is what particular aspect is the most scary or traumatic for them. It can be hard to ask this without seeming like I don’t agree or understand. I can’t say, “What’s so bad about [that terrible thing that happened]?” I have adopted a solution that a wise teacher once taught me. Now I say, “If you were to write a book about this awful situation (and you certainly could write an entire book about it), what would be on the very first page? This is one of the questions on the very first page of the book that I would write about COVID-19:

Why are some people getting so severely sick with COVID-19 and others are only mildly sick, or are even asymptomatic?

It seems logical that those who are already health-compromised may get more severely sick than others. But there are many cases that seem unexpected: children, teenagers, healthy adults. In my research, I am always seeking answers to this question.

I found this extremely interesting article on the connection between glutathione deficiency and serious cases of COVID-19. It explains the risk factors for glutathione deficiency; age, cigarette smoking, insufficient intake of fruit and vegetables, Type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory disease and why this deficiency impacts our bodies’ ability to fight pathogens. Read more here:

Endogenous Deficiency of Glutathione as the Most Likely Cause of Serious Manifestations and Death in COVID-19 Patients

Knowing this, you can see that it is really important to maximize your glutathione production. It is the mother of all antioxidants, and according to many experts, is the secret to preventing aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more. To read more about boosting your glutathione, read this article by the smart and excellent functional medicine doctor, Dr. Mark Hyman. In it, he explains what glutathione is, what it does in the body, why it’s so important and how to increase it in your own body. Luckily, you have control over many of the the risk factors for low glutathione, and you can eat, exercise and supplement to increase your natural glutathione. Supporting your body’s natural antioxidant, glutathione, will reduce your chance of severe disease of all kinds.

Wishing you health and wellness.
