How do I know if you are the right practitioner for me?
I am always available to have a 15 minute free consultation before booking an appointment. This gives you a chance to ask me questions and get to know me a bit better. It gives me a chance to learn more about you and your health concerns and make the right plan moving forward.
How can I learn more about homeopathy?
I frequently teach parents how to use homeopathy at home with their families. With basic knowledge, some books and remedies to keep at home, you can learn to help your family with simple first aid, colds and flus, fevers and other common ailments. You can be empowered to maintain the health of your family, and spend less time at the doctor’s office. Email me directly to find out my next teaching engagement.
Do you have a specialty?
I specialize in thyroid dysfunction, particularly in teens and women. Like most homeopaths, I treat each person individually, regardless of their physical or mental complaint. Don’t allow my specialty to discourage you from reaching out. I also treat almost all other kinds of diseases, imbalances and complaints. If you’d like to learn more about whether we are a good fit for each other, book a free 15-minute consult here.
I’ve tried homeopathy, and I don’t think it works on me. Is that possible?
Homeopathy works on everyone, but sometimes homeopaths don’t find the right remedy. When an incorrect match is made between your case, acute or chronic, and a remedy, then exactly nothing happens. Homeopaths are human, and sometimes can’t quite see the whole pattern of the case on the first try. If you don’t feel better after the remedy, don’t give up! Lots can be learned from an incorrect remedy prescription, and often it leads to a correct remedy. I like to say that homeopathy is perfect, and homeopaths are imperfect. Hang in there, it works!
Is it ok to drink coffee?
Homeopathy has a bad reputation for being the mode of medicine with the most restrictions; no coffee, no mint, no dental drilling, even no chocolate! I feel that most things will not interfere with your homeopathic treatment, and most people arrive in my office with a latte in hand. That said, some people are very sensitive, and might be reactive to strong scents like essential oils or camphor, and that could potentially affect their homeopathic treatment. These are details that can be explored when you come to your first appointment. For now, your coffee routine is safe!
Can you use homeopathy to treat children and babies?
Yes, absolutely! I treat children and babies on a daily basis. Homeopathy is wonderful for acute and chronic ailments such as ear infections, coughs, colds, sore throats, fevers, fears and so much more. Here is my highly recommended home use book: Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicine.
Is homeopathy safe for everyone?
Yes! See above. Remedies are safe for babies, children, adults, pregnant women, elderly people and animals. They are FDA-approved.
What are homeopathic remedies?
Homeopathic remedies are made from minute, diluted quantities of natural substances, such as plants, minerals and animal products. The remedies carry only the energetic pattern of the original substance, not any of the actual substance, hence they retain the healing properties with none of the toxic properties. There are thousands of remedies in our homeopathic pharmacy.
What forms do remedies come in?
Remedies come in several forms; pellets, ointments, gels and tinctures. They can be purchased at health food stores and specialty pharmacies throughout the world.
What does “potency” refer to, and what is safe to use?
The potency refers to the strength of the remedy’s action. Remedies come in different potencies; 6C, 12C and 30C are low potencies, safe for anyone to use at home. 200C, 1M and higher potencies are stronger, and should only be used with the supervision of a professional homeopath. Most health food stores carry 30C potencies.
Are there side effects from taking homeopathic remedies?
Homeopathic remedies have no contra-indications or side effects. Remedies are selected carefully to match the symptoms of the acute or chronic case. When an incorrect remedy is given, no healing takes place, and no harm takes place. When nothing happens after taking a remedy, it means the wrong remedy was chosen, and a new remedy needs to be selected.
How long are your appointments?
Have a look at my Services page for all the details about my appointments. My initial complete chronic appointments are 3 hours, focused chronic appointments are 1.5 hours, follow ups are 1 hour. For children, I divide the time into two sessions; the first part with the parents alone, and the second part with you and your child.
What is your favorite remedy?
That’s a trick question! Like my children, I love them all equally. However, I only have two children, and there are thousands of remedies. So if I had to pick, I’d say whichever one cures the urgent situation of the moment. I can think of lots that fit the description! I do carry 3 remedies with me at all times, so I must love them a lot. They are Aconite, Apis and Arnica.
